We publish stories to change the lives of women & girls.
We believe in solutions journalism and its power to drive real-world change.
We also believe women and girls too often get sidelined in journalism. And in a world where women’s rights are increasingly under threat, we need their voices and ideas more than ever.
We don’t just publish stories; we use them as a catalyst to drive lasting change in the lives of women and girls. Keep this in mind when you pitch us: your story has the power to make a difference in a woman’s life.
While we read every pitch carefully, due to limited capacity, we’re only able to respond to submissions that align with our current editorial needs.
What kinds of stories do you publish?
More to Her Story is looking for all kinds of journalism. We publish investigative pieces, “day-after” pieces, and breaking news when it aligns with our mission. We publish op-eds and analyses when the subject is relevant to the news cycle. We are especially interested in underreported stories; our focus is not just on what’s making the headlines but on the stories that slip through the cracks of mainstream media.
How does More to Her Story publish?
More to Her Story publishes journalism on our website, Substack, and social media channels, and often with respected news outlets and media organizations. Our partnerships and collaborations are central to our mission, with our stories regularly reaching hundreds of thousands of readers.
How much do you pay?
As a small nonprofit newsroom, we offer a flat fee of $300 per story, regardless of location. For stories that require significant travel or logistical costs, we’re open to discussing additional compensation. Please note that while we value op-eds, they are not part of our commissioning model.
Media outlets are welcome to republish our stories, provided they credit More to Her Story.
