More to Her Story is an independent newsroom reporting on the lives of women and girls worldwide. Our journalism is grounded in the belief that women’s stories and experiences are essential to understanding the world as it actually is — and imagining how it could be better.

From conflict zones to closed societies, we document the social, political, religious, and cultural forces shaping women’s lives, freedom, and opportunity worldwide.

Proximity is central to our work, from women and girls themselves to the journalists, experts, and local leaders closest to them. We believe lived experience should shape how stories are understood and told.

For us, documenting women’s lives and leadership is both a moral responsibility and a strategic necessity: we cannot fully understand the world, much less move it forward, without accounting for half its population.
